Ever since flat screen TV’s entered the domestic market they have become progressively lighter, larger and allot more affordable. Many TV and film lovers have invested in large format televisions so that they can enjoy all the latest home entertainment. As a result of this a TV can dominate a room especially as we have mentioned the larger screens. Many professional Audio Visual Installation companies and manufacturers have devised many different way of hiding flat screen TV’s. These include TV Lifts raising screens form furniture, fold down lifts lowering screens form ceiling and artwork lifts revealing TV’s from behind canvases. In todays post we are going to be looking at a recent installation that we provided for the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London using the Future Automation PICSPLIT 4.

PICSPLIT Moving Artwork Lift

The PICSPLIT 4 allows Audio Visual Installers to recess a 75 inch flat screen TV in the wall and conceal it behind a pair of canvases. The inbuilt motors quickly and quietly move the artwork panels apart to reveal a recessed TV. While the advanced control system keeps everything synchronised at all times. The system is completely automated and can be operated by a simple rocker switch, an IR remote, a RF remote or any 3rd party control system. In this installation we opted for the RF remote as it works out of line of sight and the system was only a stand alone system with Hotel TV.

There are 4 models in the range catering for screens up to a maximum recess width of 1800mm, bespoke version can also be produced catering for any requirements outside the standard 4 versions. Power and network cables run from the control box to each moving panel mechanism we use pre installed 35mm copex which allows us to get the cable head down. The conrod box has to be positioned within the 3m range that the standard cable length supplied provides. The most important element of these types of custom audio visual installation is the initial laying out and planning, allot of attention needs to be given at this stage of project.

Split Panel Artwork

Customers can commission their own artworks or we can provide a printing and canvas stretching service for them. Each of the mechanism’s can support up to 15kg so it possible to use decorative panels or wooden panels. On this project we worked with a gallery selected by the interior designers. We provided all the required dimensions along with the canvas stretcher bars and the gallery delivered the artwork on the day. Other customers have used wooden panels and concealed their TV within a bookcase with a moving panel.
