Split Picture Moving Art Work Hidden TV

Ever since flat-screen TVs entered the domestic market, they have become progressively lighter, larger, and significantly more affordable. Many TV and film enthusiasts have invested in large-format televisions to enjoy the latest home entertainment. As a result, a TV can dominate a room, especially since we have mentioned the larger screens. Many professional Audio Visual Installation companies and manufacturers have devised various ways to hide flat-screen TVs. These include TV lifts that raise screens from furniture, fold-down lifts that lower screens from the ceiling, and artwork lifts that reveal TVs from behind canvases. In today’s post, we’ll review a recent installation we provided for the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, utilising the Future Automation PICSPLIT 4.

PICSPLIT Moving Artwork Lift

The PICSPLIT 4 allows Audio Visual Installers to recess a 75-inch flat screen TV in the wall and conceal it behind a pair of canvases. The inbuilt motors quickly and quietly move the artwork panels apart to reveal a recessed TV. At the same time, the advanced control system keeps everything synchronised at all times. The system is entirely automated and can be operated by a simple rocker switch, an IR remote, an RF remote, or any third-party control system. In this installation, we opted for the RF remote as it works out of line of sight, and the system was a stand-alone system with a Hotel TV.

There are four models in the range, catering to screens with a maximum recess width of 1800mm. A bespoke version can also be produced to cater to any requirements outside the standard four versions. Power and network cables run from the control box to each moving panel mechanism. We use pre-installed 35mm Copex, which allows us to get the cable head down. The control box has to be positioned within the 3m range that the standard cable length supplied provides. The most crucial element of these types of custom audio visual installations is the initial layout and planning; a lot of attention needs to be given to this stage of the project.

Customers can commission their artworks, or we can provide a printing and canvas stretching service for them. Each of the mechanisms can support up to 15kg, allowing for the use of decorative panels or wooden panels. On this project, we worked with a gallery selected by the interior designers. We provided all the required dimensions, along with the canvas stretcher bars, and the gallery delivered the artwork on the specified day. Other customers have used wooden panels to conceal their TV within a bookcase with a sliding panel.
