TV Wall Panel / Floating Media TV Walls

What is a TV Wall Panel ?

Do you want to create a more of feature to your home entertainment equipment ? would you like a clean neat and tidy cable free solution ? then media TV wall panels and floating TV walls may be the answer for you.

TV Panels offer a much more decorative approach to getting your TV mounted on the wall making more of a statement, a feature piece if you like. TV Wall Panels generally consist of a raised platform stepping away from the wall that allow decorative panels can be attached to. The TV is then mounted onto the decorative panel along with any sound bars, cabinets or floating shelves. Cables can be hidden in the cavity behind the decorative panel for a clean simple installation. This saves the need for cutting channels into the wall and replastering to hide the cables.

The finish options are endless and limited only by the imagination. They can generally be clad with any type of flooring that will adhere including natural woods and high gloss laminates. Feature lighting can also be installed and we always think that they look great with a set of RF remote control plain white LED’s. The Lights we use allow you change and set the light temperature from cold to warm to match you décor. In todays post we are going to be looking back at some previous custom jobs we have done looking at some great ways to add a little class to a wall mounted TV’s.

Different types of TV Wall Mount

There are an awful lot of of TV wall mounts out there on the market. In principle you could attach any type of TV wall mount to a floating TV panel provided the panel is securely fixed to the wall. Some of the more common solutions that we get asked for would be. The low profile flat wall mount along with articulated swing out mounts that allow you to move the TV.

In the job above we used a Future Automation PSE90 motorised TV wall mount. This allows you to swing the tv out up to 90 degrees with the press of a button. This is great when you have a dual purpose kitchen diner situation. You would like to be able to move the screen so you can view it from both locations. In this particular job we recessed the motorised bracket into the floating TV panel. This meant the TV was fixed to the wall behind rather than on the panel. This was done so the main wall was would take the weight of the heavy mount and TV. It also meant that then TV didn’t stand to proud when returned back to the wall.

3D Decorative Wall Panels

3D wall panels can either be installed behind the floating TV wall panel so that you get really interesting decorative lighting effects. Alternatively they can be used to clad the floating wall itself. They are a little bit like large 3d tiles that when installed correctly create a seamless 3d pattern across the surface. Available in a variety of different styles they work really well with backlighting. In addition they and can be painted in any colour if required.

In the job above we used the beach wave 3d wall panels across the whole width of the room. This created a seamless 3d effect which we then painted in matt white. The floating TV panel clad in grey oak laminate was installed to stand proud over the 3d wall. The customer also liked the idea of having a solid oak slab floating shelve. So we mounted one below the TV additional support behind the wall was provided to accommodate this. The TV was mounted to the floating wall using a ultra low profile flat tv wall mount. The edges of the panel were finished with aluminum trims. Finally we ran LED lighting around the entire perimeter of the wall backlighting onto the 3d wall panels creating some really decorative lighting effects.
