Mr Alain initially approached AV Installs for information on how to hide his flat-screen TV behind a mirror when not in use. We reviewed all the options for using our Mirror TV Framing and moving artwork systems. After our engineers completed the survey, it was decided that due to lighting conditions, a motorised mirror to hide the TV was the best solution.
If you have not seen a Motorised Mirror Lift before, they are a fantastic product. A motorised enclosure is recessed into the wall above the TV and provides a frame for a Mirror to be attached to. With the press of a button, the mechanism raises the mirror vertically to reveal a recessed flat screen TV behind. The project was completed in multiple stages. Once the initial survey and design drawing were completed, the first stage of the project involved extending the chimney breast wall by 100mm. The reason for this was to provide the required recesses to accommodate the mirror lifting mechanism, sound bar and 46″ LED flat screen. Wooden stud work was fixed to the existing solid wall and plasterboarded. Then, the required cut-outs were made, and all the cabling was hidden, ready for the final skim.
The final stage, after all the decorating had been completed, was to install all the hardware, connect everything, and finally configure the home entertainment system.
