Top 3 Things To Consider When Purchasing A Pop up TV Lift
In the following listicle, we’re going to take a quick look at the three most common things to consider when purchasing a pop-up TV Lift. Let us first just take a moment to talk about what a flat screen lift actually is and does.
TV lift mechanisms are mechanical devices that allow customers to raise and lower their TV. This is done electronically using a remote control. They are used extensively in the furniture industry so that flat screen TVs can be hidden inside cabinets. With the press of a button the Lift raise the TV out of a hinged flap. When your done watching, press the button, the TV lowers into the cabinet and the hinged lid closes behind it. TV Lifts are also used by many DIY enthusiasts to hide their televisions in many creative ways

At AV Installs we have one of the largest range of TV lifts in Europe suitable for all budgets. From simple Pop UP TV Lifts to bespoke custom TV Lifts. Here are the tree main factors to consider when purchasing a basic POP TV Lift Mechanism.
- Total Lift Stroke
- Minimal Internal Cabinet height
- Lid Opening Options
1. Total Pop Up TV Lift Stroke
This relates to maximum amount of travel that he lift can move. This is important because it relates to the maximum size of the TV that the lift can carry. Height is what’s really important here when considering which TV Lift to buy. The total Lift stroke needs to be the height of your TV plus the thickness of the cabinet lid with some wiggle room. Lets assume you have a 55″ TV which is 715mm tall along with a lid which is 35mm thick with 50mm wiggle room. This gives you a minimum lift stroke of 800mm. All lifts can be limited in their stroke so you would get the nearest rounded up and limit the stroke to accomadate.
2. Minimal Internal Cabinet Height
This relates to the minimum space needed inside the cabinet to house the TV Lift itself. Please note that with some TV lifts additional height is needed for the TV screen also. It can be important at this stage to understand the relationship between the Lift and the TV when mounted. For instance if you have a telescopic lift with a build in height of 750mm but a lift stroke of 1000mm then its likely you may be using a TV bigger than the minimum build in height and will need to adjust your cabinet size accordingly. Some Lifts also have other moving components like roll away lids or lid actuators that have to be considered.
3. Lid Opening Options
The most basic Pop Up TV Lifts come with what known as a lid lifter. In essence this is a piece of metal that makes contact with the underside of a hinged lid to protect the TV. Other lifts have lids that automatically lower into the cabinet and roll out the way before the TV rises. Some lifts have a hinged lid actuator that automatically raises the hinged lift before the TV lifts out the cabinet. The more complicated the lid opening the more luxurious the overall look. My favorite is the drop and roll lid system form Future Automation used on their PL range of TV Lifts available form AV installs.
