1. Standard 5.1 Surround Sound Layouts

The Benefit: Perfect for standard media rooms and living room setups, providing dedicated terminals for front, centre, and rear surround channels without wall clutter.
Key Feature: Houses 10 gold-plated speaker binding posts and a single gold-plated RCA subwoofer socket, with the option to add an extra RCA port for dual 5.2 subwoofer systems.

2. Custom Decorative Finishes

The Benefit: Ensures your termination plates coordinate beautifully with your room’s existing sockets and switches.
Key Feature: Available in nine premium finishes—including White and Black plastic (recessed design), and custom metal options like Brushed Chrome, Polished Chrome, Brushed Brass, Polished Brass, and Gun Metal Black with insulated black nylon bushes.

Speaker Post Caps: These decorative caps come in black or white, with easy identification bands for + and – channels. These caps fit over our gold-plated speaker post thumb screws while still allowing the binding posts to operate and banana plugs to fit. Available for the front only or for the front and back. Key Technical Factors to Consider Before Buying

Solder-Free Connections: The gold-plated binding posts feature identical screw-clamp connections on both the front and back of the plate, accepting bare cable or 4mm banana plugs for a simple, solder-free installation.
Back Box Requirements: This double-gang plate fits any standard UK two-gang back box. Due to the volume of speaker cabling, we strongly recommend a 47mm deep steel or plasterboard back box to ensure easy cable dressing.
Etched Labelling: Every socket on the plate is permanently etched with standard speaker locations (FL, FR, C, SL, SR, and SUB) to make it much easier to connect the AV receiver.

Installation Tip from the AV Installs Team

To ensure a smooth installation, we highly recommend using a 42mm or 47mm deep back box (dryline or flush masonry). This gives you plenty of room to neatly dress your in-wall speaker cables behind the plate without bending or pinching the wires.

5.1 Surround Sound Layout Guide

The foundation of modern home cinema. A 5.1 system uses five discrete channels and one low-frequency effects channel (the subwoofer).

Placement Notes:

The front three speakers (Left, Centre, Right) are angled towards the primary listening position (PLP).
The two Surround speakers (SL, SR) are placed to the sides, slightly behind the listener (ideally 110° from the front centre), and angled inward.
The Subwoofer (.1) is often placed in a front corner for maximum coupling
